ABOUT ME
After 20 years at Microsoft its now time for a new role. Strategy, people, and data are my strengths. I translate complexity into clarity, giving teams the insights and confidence they need to move fast and achieve results that matter.
KEY SKILLS
Strategy
I focus on clear communication and consistent measurement of strategy. Every stakeholder understands the value creation plan, their role in it, and how progress will be tracked. I also bring experience weaving AI into this process to enhance insight and foresight.
People
I act as a central conduit between business units, working closely with others to understand perspectives and the reasoning behind them. This approach builds trust, strengthens team culture, drives better decisions and ultimately leads to stronger business results.
Data Architecture
I assess whether the data estate effectively supports strategic goals. Where it falls short, I identify the architectural or process changes needed. I also possess the technical skills to make improvements myself and provide a clear roadmap forward, ensuring the team can be delivered insights reliably and at scale.
Data Presentation
I integrate strategy, people, and technology into solutions that deliver the right information at the right time. My focus is on clarity and efficiency, so leaders and teams can act quickly and confidently. These solutions are centred on Power BI & International Business Communication Standards but extend to AI Reporting Agents and Advanced Excel Models.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONs
What is your ideal company to work for?
I am open to all options, that said I need to believe in the product offering and its future growth. My ideal role is one where I work closely with the leadership team providing data and solid counsel. Having worked for a large foreign corporation for so long I am now attracted to progressive New Zealand owned entities where decision making is held locally.
Do you have management experience?
I have managed operational and analyst contractors here in New Zealand and Asia. Generally, I work closely with a Director and their manager reports in a manager peer capacity. My management preference is leading small highly skilled technical teams.
How do you incorporate Strategy into your reporting?
We communicate the strategy via the inclusion of 'one page' summaries in reporting packs. Then we integrate the strategy markers within the data model so regular measurement can occur. Its best practice to include external strategy measures such as survey as part of metrics to show actual impact in the market.
How do you rate your technical data skills?
Power BI - Advanced - PL-300 Certified. Extensive experience from Microsoft designing and querying Azure and M365 data models, with strong dashboard and DAX proficiency.
Excel - Advanced - Twenty years of daily use. Expertise in database connectivity, advanced modelling, and analytical automation.
SQL - Intermediate - Spent a year at Trustpower with 80% of time writing T-SQL against enterprise data warehouses.
AI - Applied - Daily user of ChatGPT and strong working knowledge of Microsoft 365 Copilot. Currently studying AI agent development and integration.
Other - Strong understanding of the Microsoft cloud ecosystem, CRM financial systems, and modern web technologies.
What is your perception of AI?
AI is the most exciting technology I have seen in the industry, yet in my perspective somewhat overhyped in some respects. It's very good with language and coding, but needs clear direction when it comes to acting upon systems and data. Proceeding forth with a clear sense of near term return of investment is key.
What is your experience with Data engineering?
At Microsoft ANZ I held roles as the subject matter expert for both Azure and M365, which are big datasets. The vast majority of my time was spent combining, reconciling and presenting datasets to the Senior Leadership Team, hence I quickly became proficient at ETL and automated data pipelines. Furthermore, during my tenure at Trustpower I spent 80% of my time coding SQL queries.
Preferred employment type and visa requirements?
I am a New Zealand citizen open to both full time and contract roles.
What are your interests outside of work?
When not parenting you can find me alpine skiing or surfing.
